This scene was motivated by a family visit to Paternoster where we stayed in a friend’s white washed cottage. It was beautiful, very white and very bright. The figure is sitting on the patio with a strong shadow looking out towards a blank canvas from which anything can develop. There is a positive confidence as he surveys his options.
