This piece forms part of what I call the ‘poolside geese series’.
Although roosting, this goose is once again vigilant. I was attracted to this particular pose because it reminded me of the stance that a warrior might take looking over the top of his shield. Its wing is held up like a shield. Those wing feathers are tough and hard, not soft like the feathers on its breast.
