There’s a nice story behind this painting. This little dove fell out of a nest when it was very young. Jonathan brought it into the house and reared it. We named it “Beakie”. It used to sit on the fridge in my studio, sunbathing like this. Sometimes, it would sit on the edge of the canvas and watch me paint.
I like the sculptural effect this image projects and how a spotlight shines on the bird itself, giving it special recognition.
