This piece is also part of the geese series and was inspired by the time we lived on Lake Michelle. The time living there gave me great opportunities to study these birds in greater detail, really getting to know their characters and characteristics. In this case, I was able to move around and observe details of how the feathers create a solid shield and perfect body coat for the animal. In this particular pose, the goose is holding up its wing, almost like a warrior with a protective shield, as though against a potential enemy. He has got one eye open, watching us very carefully in case he needs to act in some sort of defensive mode. What attracted me was the contrast and sculptural elements of these geese. Later, I did a couple of life size bronzes to complete the exploration.
