World of Birds in Hout Bay, Cape Town is an inspirational venue for me. When you go there, you often see unlikely unions of animals and birds together. As a result of the artificial environment that has been created there for the purpose of conserving and protecting these birds, you do get these unusual scenarios. So this painting was inspired by these bizarre scenes that wouldn’t normally occur. The unusual juxtapositioning supports the idea of birds on exhibition.
